The world of nutrition is noisy. One minute, carbs are the enemy; the next, it’s all about protein. Low fat, high fat, macros, calories—it’s enough to make your head spin.
But nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, the simpler you make it, the better the results you get.
This post will strip away the confusion and give you a clear, practical approach to eating in a way that works for you.
Eating for Performance—Beyond the Gym
When we think about “performance,” we often picture athletes pushing their limits. But performance isn’t just about the physical—it’s about how we show up in life.
How well you focus at work.
How much energy you have for your family.
How you feel physically and mentally every single day.
And a major factor in all of this? What you eat.
Where Most People Go Wrong
There are two big mistakes that hold people back:
1. Over-reliance on Processed Foods
Supermarkets are full of products plastered with health claims—low fat, high protein, vitamin-fortified. But here’s the truth: Real food doesn’t need a label.
Natural foods—things that grow, swim, walk, or fly—already contain everything your body needs. They don’t require artificial vitamins or traffic light systems.
2. Lack of Awareness About How Food Makes You Feel
Most people eat on autopilot, distracted by screens, stress, or habit. But how often do you stop and ask:
What foods give me energy?
What foods leave me bloated, sluggish, or drained?
Do I feel better with more carbs, or do I thrive on higher protein and fats?
When you start paying attention, patterns emerge. Personally, I’ve learned that I feel best on higher protein and fat with plenty of vegetables. Potatoes and apples are my go-to carb sources, but if I mix high carbs with fats? I feel terrible.
Everyone’s different, and the key is learning what works for you.
The Payoff
You probably already know that better nutrition leads to better energy. But what most people don’t realize is just how much better they could feel.
I used to think I was functioning at 70-80%. Then I changed my diet—and I unlocked a whole new level. The difference was mind-blowing.
The truth? Most people are operating at 40-50% of their potential.
Give it a month of truly eating well, and I guarantee you’ll feel the difference. Commit for three months, and it will be life-changing.
How to Eat for Health & Performance
1️⃣ Eat real food – Stick to foods that come from nature: plants, animals, fish. Avoid ultra-processed foods with long ingredient lists.
2️⃣ Listen to your body – Pay attention to how different foods make you feel. Eat more of what fuels you, and cut back on what drains you.
3️⃣ Commit to the process – Real change takes time. Try this approach for at least a month, but ideally three. The results will speak for themselves.
